Division: Outreach Community Services is an affiliate of Outreach Community Ministries which partners with Wheaton Bible Church and Iglesia del Pueblo to form Puente del Pueblo. Puente del Pueblo serves the residents of Timber Lake and Main Park apartment complexes in West Chicago. Programs include case management, adult literacy, ESL tutoring, after school programs for elementary, junior high and high school students and community events.


Job Responsibilities: The Education and Employment Coach is responsible for effectively engaging and developing coaching relationships with 10-15 students. Specific responsibilities include group facilitation, activity planning, collaborating with volunteers, staff, and the student’s school personnel, motivating students towards their best work and academic performance, assisting high school seniors in exploring college options and record keeping. Coaching responsibilities also extend to employment skills including job search, interview skill development, applying feedback from worksite supervisors and exploring diverse work environments. Coaches will transport students to and from work as needed. Administrative responsibilities include assisting with program set up/tear down, light cleaning and organization.


Requirements: BA/BS degree in education, social work, or a related field. Previous teaching, coaching or group facilitation experience with High School students. The ability to develop an effective coaching relationship over the course of the school year. Clear verbal and written communication ability; professional and relational presence. The desire and ability to work within a team. A valid IL driver’s license, current auto insurance, reliable vehicle, and good driving record. Sensitivity to the needs of students from low-income, high-risk families and culturally diverse background. Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.


Status: Part-time at 20 hours per week. Monday-Friday from 2pm-6pm. Some weekend hours may be required. Hours may vary during school breaks and holidays.


Compensation: The hourly rate for this position falls between $15 and $17 based on skills, experience, education, and language ability.
